Your words stay yours.
Translation, transcription, voice, and captioning move sensitive material — contracts, medical notes, recorded interviews, case files. This page explains exactly what happens to that material at LANGUU. We wrote it in plain language, because legalese is just another language barrier. The binding legal text is one tap away.

What we collect
We collect three kinds of information, and nothing we don't need to run the service:
- Account details — your name, email, and billing information when you sign up or pay.
- The content you submit — the text, documents, audio, and video you hand us to translate, transcribe, voice, or caption, plus the outputs we generate from it.
- Usage data — device, browser, language settings, and how you move through the tools, so we can keep them fast, working, and secure.
We don't ask for sensitive personal categories, and we'd rather you didn't submit them unless your plan is set up for regulated work.
LANGUU processes (a) Account Data provided during registration and billing, including name, email address and payment identifiers; (b) Submitted Content, defined as any text, document, audio or video file uploaded or entered by the user for processing, together with derived Output; and (c) Usage Data, comprising device, browser, locale and interaction metadata collected automatically. LANGUU does not solicit special categories of personal data within the meaning of applicable data-protection law except where a user's plan is expressly provisioned for such processing under a separate agreement.
How we use what you submit
Your submitted content is used for one purpose: to produce the output you asked for and return it to you. That's the whole job.
To be clear about what we don't do:
- We don't sell your content or personal data to anyone.
- We don't use your content to train public or shared AI models.
- We don't mine it for advertising or build a profile to target you.
When you turn on human-in-the-loop review, only the reviewers assigned to your job can see the content, and they're bound by confidentiality.
Submitted Content is processed solely to render the requested Output and deliver it to the user. LANGUU shall not (i) sell or otherwise disclose Submitted Content or personal data to third parties for consideration; (ii) use Submitted Content to train, fine-tune or improve any general-purpose or shared machine-learning model; or (iii) use Submitted Content for advertising, profiling or targeting. Where optional human review is enabled, access is limited to reviewers assigned to the relevant job and subject to written confidentiality obligations.
How long we keep it
You control retention. By default we store submitted content and its output only as long as you need to collect your results — around 30 days — then delete it on a rolling schedule.
Workspace admins can shorten that window or switch on auto-delete. Deleting a job removes the content from our active systems right away; copies in encrypted backups age out on their own cycle.
Account and billing records are kept while your account is open and for as long as the law requires afterward.
Submitted Content and Output are retained for a default period of thirty (30) days from delivery, after which they are deleted on a rolling basis, unless a shorter retention period or automatic deletion is configured by a workspace administrator. Deletion of a job removes the associated content from production systems without undue delay; residual copies within encrypted backup media are expunged in accordance with standard backup-rotation cycles. Account and transaction records are retained for the duration of the account and for any further period mandated by applicable law.
Keeping it secure
Your content is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access inside LANGUU is least-privilege and logged — people see only what their job requires, and we keep a record of it.
Our controls are independently audited to SOC 2. For regulated work, HIPAA and CJIS controls are available on qualifying plans once the right agreements are in place.
LANGUU maintains technical and organizational measures including encryption of data in transit and at rest, role-based least-privilege access, and access logging. LANGUU's control environment is subject to independent SOC 2 examination. HIPAA-aligned and CJIS-aligned controls are made available on qualifying plans subject to execution of a Business Associate Agreement or equivalent instrument. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; LANGUU does not warrant absolute security but commits to commercially reasonable safeguards.
Who else touches your data
Running a translation service means a small, vetted set of infrastructure and AI-processing providers help us behind the scenes. They act only on our instructions, can't use your content for their own purposes, and are bound by contract.
We keep a current list of these sub-processors and give notice before adding a new one, so workspace admins can review changes.
LANGUU engages a limited number of vetted sub-processors to provide hosting, storage and AI-inference services. Each sub-processor processes personal data only on documented instructions from LANGUU, is prohibited from using such data for its own purposes, and is bound by contractual obligations no less protective than those in this Policy. A current list of sub-processors is maintained and reasonable prior notice of material additions is provided to enable administrator review.
Moving data across borders
We may process your data in a country other than your own. Whenever data crosses a border, the same protections travel with it — we rely on recognized legal safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to make sure of that.
Personal data may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions other than the user's country of residence. Where such transfers occur, LANGUU implements appropriate transfer mechanisms recognized under applicable law, including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent instruments, to ensure an adequate level of protection for the transferred data.
Your rights and controls
You can access, export, correct, or delete your data, and object to or restrict certain processing. Most of this you can do yourself from your workspace settings.
Depending on where you live — for example under the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA — you may have extra rights, including the right not to have your personal data sold. We don't sell it anyway. Send us a request and we'll act within the timeframe the law sets.
Subject to applicable law, users may exercise rights of access, portability, rectification, erasure, restriction and objection in respect of their personal data. Residents of certain jurisdictions, including those protected by the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, may hold additional rights, including the right to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal data; LANGUU does not engage in such sale or sharing. Verified requests are actioned within the period prescribed by the applicable statute.
Cookies and tracking
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and the app working, plus limited analytics to understand and improve how the tools are used. We don't run third-party advertising trackers.
You can manage your choices on our Cookies page.
LANGUU employs strictly necessary cookies to maintain authenticated sessions and core functionality, together with first-party and limited analytics cookies used to measure and improve service performance. LANGUU does not deploy third-party advertising or cross-site tracking technologies. Cookie preferences may be managed via the Cookies page; further detail is provided therein.
Children
LANGUU isn't intended for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll remove it.
The Service is not directed to children under the age of sixteen (16), and LANGUU does not knowingly collect personal data from such children. Where LANGUU becomes aware that personal data of a child has been collected without appropriate consent, it will delete such data promptly upon notification.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll post the update, move the effective date, and notify account admins for significant changes. Older versions stay available on request.
LANGUU may amend this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be published with a revised effective date, and account administrators will be notified of significant amendments. Prior versions are available upon request. Continued use of the Service following the effective date of an amended Policy constitutes acceptance of the amended terms to the extent permitted by law.
